  • Terrible customer service!

Do not buy this app. Do not trust them with your credit card info. Absolutely terrible customer service! They say you get a 14 day refund period- but this does not apply to the renewal secretly- so if you accidentally get charged they refuse to give you your money back. I have never had really any business be so heartless and rude and unwilling to give me back my money when I accidentally get charged and really didn’t want the product. But Mimo just completely wasted my time having a back and forth on Zendesk telling me they will not give me the 50$ back after I literally called them the next day after I saw the charge. I didn’t even know I was putting my card on file for auto renewal when I agreed to buy this but I guess the fine print in the user agreement was slipped in under my nose. Obviously when I’m trying to buy a mere app the last thing I want to do is read an entire legal document to see if I’m getting swindled. This isn’t a mortgage. It’s an app. I did this app for a year- and barely used it because we are in the age of web apps where you can find way more superior resources online that are perfectly mobile responsive. Why pay for this? Take it from a software engineer. This app is useless. Make a free code camp account! Or get an SF library card and use Lynda for free. Or- just google search- sooo many good medium articles- or just read the docs for the respective language you want to learn.
  • Can’t unsubscribe, won’t refund.

They don’t warn you about upcoming yearly renewal charges, won’t refund, and make it difficult to cancel. Don’t give them your credit card, it’s like dealing with a cable company.

All I learned was how to print in Swift WOW SO SHOCKING guess it was helpful that I already knew Python Java and C++. I thought they would help me learn to build an app with the skills I have instead they just want money NAHH I could probably find it for free online or on YouTube!!

I just started it and it’s great. But I was like “There’s no way they’re gonna give this to you for free” and I was right. I paid for it and I’m pretty happy with it.
  • Immediately Upsells You

The concept is decent and I'd love to continue to use the app if they didn't immediately ask you to subscribe for $30 or $50. I took one lesson where I answered incredibly basic questions about things like opening a door or making a sandwich. The app then praised me for being so incredibly smart and didn't allow me to take the next lesson until I upgraded to a paid plan. I'm afraid this app wasn't built to encourage actual learning but to sucker millennials into buying after telling us how smart and special we are.
  • Misleading Pay Wall

It doesn’t cost a lot but you can’t do anything if you don’t pay. The intro is not enough at all to get me to give them 30 to 50 dollars. I have no idea if they will really be able to teach me anything.

Extremely easy to use and conceive
  • Trial is bogus

After indicating that I’m not new to coding, it set me up with very basic questions like, “What is an app?” It then proceeded to show me nothing of the actual exercises before demanding payment to continue.

Mimo was designed to teach you how to code on the go. Not only is that what they tell you, but it’s what they do. I am currently traveling and need to do something with my time. I take the time to write this review because it is that good. I bought a subscription for a year and really love it. I have learned how to make a website and an iOS app. Probably the best out there. Keep in mind that this is my first ever review on the App Store and I have been using apps for over 6 years.
